The BIRKENSTOCK Medina is a variation on the classic Gizeh. The thong sandal has two straps that merge with one another to give it a sturdy look and function. This classic model has been given an update in a new material, with a vegan version now available. It is entirely free of animal products, as verified by independent testing laboratories. The upper is made from skin-friendly microfiber. The sandal boasts sophisticated material use with a matte finish that’s reminiscent of natural leather while nevertheless being 100% vegan.

  Upper: Microfibers

  Microfibers are a very fine synthetic fibers that are extremely soft and shape-retentive. As with Birko-Flor® the surface is combined with a layer of breathable fleece.

  Insole: Natural leather

  Natural leather can be recognized by its untreated surface. BIRKENSTOCK purposely does not treat surface grains and other characteristic features. BIRKENSTOCK uses sturdy leather with a thickness of 2.8 to 3.2 millimeters as upper material.

  Footbed material: Cork

  Cork is a sustainable material extracted from the bark layer of the cork oak. This natural product is insulating and offers very good cushioning.

  Outsole: EVA

  EVA (ethylene vinyl acetate) is a high-quality, very light, elastic material with extremely good cushioning. As a result, it smooths out slight irregularities in the floor and ensures that every step is softly cushioned.
